Delphi Opening Hours and Tickets
Delphi's winter and summer hours, the single ticket for site and museum, free Sundays and holidays, who enters free, and how tour tickets options work.
From 1 November to 31 March, Delphi opens 08:30 to 15:30 (last entry 15:10). From 1 April to 31 October it opens 08:00 to 20:00, closing earlier through September and October. One ticket covers the archaeological site and the museum: €20 full, €10 reduced. All figures are from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, checked October 2026. The details below matter if you are planning around a holiday, a free day or a tour.
Opening hours
| Period | Archaeological site | Last entry |
|---|---|---|
| 1 November to 31 March | 08:30 to 15:30 | 15:10 |
| 1 April to 31 August | 08:00 to 20:00 | 19:40 |
| 1 to 15 September | 08:00 to 19:30 | 20 minutes before closing |
| 16 to 30 September | 08:00 to 19:00 | 20 minutes before closing |
| 1 to 15 October | 08:00 to 18:30 | 20 minutes before closing |
| 16 to 31 October | 08:00 to 18:00 | 20 minutes before closing |
The museum keeps the same winter hours. In summer the Ministry lists the museum at 08:00 to 20:00 with a shorter day on Tuesdays (10:00 to 17:00), so on a summer Tuesday do the museum in the middle of the day.
Winter hours start on 1 November 2026: a day trip in November still has the whole site to see, but no slack for a late arrival.
Closed days and holidays
The site and museum are closed on 1 January, 25 March, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May, and 25 and 26 December. On other public holidays hours can be shortened, so check the Ministry’s page before a holiday visit. Orthodox Easter usually falls on a different date from Western Easter.
Tickets
| Ticket | Price | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Full | €20 | Archaeological site and museum |
| Reduced | €10 | The same, for eligible visitors with ID |
Prices from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, checked October 2026. The single price has applied all year since the April 2025 reform; there is no longer a cheaper winter ticket.
Who enters free: EU citizens up to 25 and visitors from outside the EU up to 18, with a passport or ID card. Reduced: EU citizens aged 65 and over, but only between 1 October and 31 May. Bring the ID: it is checked at the gate, and without it you pay full price.
Free days for everyone: 6 March, 18 April, 18 May, the last weekend of September, 28 October, and the first and third Sunday of each month from 1 November to 31 March (source: the Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s free admission page, checked October 2026; the dates can change, so check it before you go). Free days are busy.
Where to buy: at the ticket office by the site, or online at tickets.hh.gr, the Ministry’s e-ticket site, for a timed entry slot. Online is the safer option at midday, when the tour coaches arrive together.
How tour ticket options work
Most Delphi tours are sold two ways. The cheaper option has no entry ticket: you buy your own on tickets.hh.gr for the hour the operator gives you (often a midday slot) so you go in with the group. The dearer option includes the ticket, and the guide takes you through. If the cheap price looks remarkable, this is why.
On a free-entry day, some tours sell a cheaper “free day” option, and others simply have nothing to buy for you.
If you do not want to deal with tickets at all, choose a tour whose option includes them. Sights of Athens' Delphi day offers site and museum entry as an option, picks up from four central points (Plaka, the Parliament, Omonia and Karaiskaki Square) and gives you a virtual-reality headset and audio commentary in several languages at the site.
It starts from $29 per person in current promotion (usually $56), rated 4.5 from 3,597 reviews (checked October 2026); the with-tickets option costs more. The guide stays on the bus; at the site you follow the headset.

What the ticket gets you
- The sanctuary of Apollo: the Sacred Way, the treasuries, the Temple of Apollo, the theatre and, at the top, the stadium.
- The museum: the Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, the Siphnian Treasury frieze and much more. Allow an hour.
- The Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia with the Tholos lies a short walk east of the main entrance, below the road. Not every tour takes you there; ask before you book if it matters.
The what to see at Delphi guide goes through it in order.
Practical notes
- There is little shade on the site; in summer, go early or late if you are on your own.
- Comfortable shoes with grip: the stone paths are steep and polished smooth.
